Mom Credits Chiropractic for Ending Bedwetting

Bedwetting is a frustrating issue for many kids, and for parents! It can be an embarrassing, messy and alienating medical issue, and most people don't know that chiropractic care can help! Read on for a testimonial from one of our clients!

Bella's Story

Bella* is 8 years old and has had a nightly bed wetting issue for quite some time. And it wasn't just an occasional problem, she would wet her bed every night. To try and help with the problem, her mom Amy would have Bella use the bathroom twice before going to bed and not allow her to drink anything for at least two hours before bed. Unfortunately, the problem persisted.

When talking with her medical doctor, he stated that it would be something that Bella would have to just grow out of and to keep doing what they had been doing at home. Even with these different attempts, Bella would still have frequent accidents.

It was hurting Bella socially. She would not sleep over at her friends' houses and would cry in the mornings due to frustration. It is at this point that the family turned to chiropractic care at Sioux Falls Chiropractic.

Bella has been seeing Dr. Bob for about one month now. Along with the regular chiropractic adjustments of her treatment plan, she has also been doing therapies and exercises.

Amy first started noticing an improvement after about 1 week of adjustments because Bella was no longer drenching the bed. After 2 weeks of treatment, she was only having slight accidents in her underwear and not wetting the entire bed.

Looking back, her mom Amy noted that as her daughter's neck and upper back discomfort worsened her bed wetting would increase. But through her maintenance plan with Dr. Bob, Bella has not had a single accident after her last few appointments!

Amy notes that Bella is much happier. She is no longer frustrated and can spend the night at her friends' house without fear. In fact, Bella came up to Amy one day and said "Dr. Bob fixed me, Mommy! I'm so happy!"

Why Chiropractic Works for Bedwetting

The spine is a nerve highway that transmits information, impulses and signals from your organs to your brain and back. When your spine is out of alignment, this pathway becomes clouded and the communication breaks down.

For Bella, her misalignment was preventing her bladder from effectively and reliably telling the brain to wake her up so she could get to the bathroom. Once her spinal alignment was restored, her body was able to heal itself and reestablish healthy pathways of communication.

Bella's results aren't unique. A 2005 study found that one quarter of the 171 children in the study treated with chiropractic had a 50% reduction of wet nights. If your child is struggling with bedwetting or other childhood ailments, chiropractic care can be a great tool to get them back on track.
